The main contractor on the project approached N Field Projects to provide project management, focussing on design, programme, cash flow and site management on a large building containing controlled atmosphere fruit stores.
The client wanted stores available for harvest 2024 so the build programme would need to be swift and efficient, whilst maintaining a quality build.
The priority was to get the steel frame design completed and signed off and into manufacture to meet the deadline. Any time lost or gained at the start would impact every contractor that followed. NFP operated as the central information hub, using the inhouse CAD facilities to design details and supports for the plant and machinery as well as working on the overall layouts for groundworks.
The site was located in the centre of a large fruit packing operation so liaison with the client, and communicating the ever changing site movements was key to minimising the impact on the farm business, without any losses on build time.
Identifying the key areas for completion which would allow other contractors to start on site at the earliest opportunity enabled the tight programme to be met.
Managing the on site teams, with health and safety and ensuring working space for everyone being top of the list, was also part of the brief, as well as quality control and sign off with the client.
